“Water is the most critical resource issue of our lifetime and our children‘s lifetime. The health of our waters is the principal measure of how we live on the land.”

SkyTender believes in a world in which more environmentally friendly travel with less waste is possible.

Offering a sustainable service at reduced costs with a unique consumer experience is the essence of the SkyTender’s mission. An important topic effecting our society, because waste prevention is currently poorly handled, especially in Aviation.

The Aviation organization IATA estimates that each passenger leaves an average of 1.43 kilos of waste per flight. The lion’s share is accounted for by plastic, cardboard and paper. Throughout 2017, IATA accounts for 5.7 million tons of passenger waste, primarily plastic, which is about the same as 2.8 million passenger cars. To eliminate all of this costs, airlines around the world spend around $ 700 million annually, IATA calculated. Scientific calculations using different methodologies even come up with a multiple of the above.

Why we do it?

Just look at the numbers!

In aviation about 91% of the plastic and most of the other cabin waste are not yet recycled. With dramatic consequences for the environment: Over 14% of the microplastics found in European waters come from plastic bottles. There are now various initiatives worldwide to cope with the flood of plastic in aviation: As an example, the San Francisco Airport has banned the sale of water from plastic bottles.
